Two 3 hour seminars

This two-day seminar presents the basic framework of Allama Muhammad Iqbal's thought, and his three interlinked concepts of khudi, bekhudi and khilafat. It also incorporates Iqbal's poetry into the sessions, as well as the historical context of his time.

SEMINAR OUTLINE

  • CONTEXTUALISING IQBAL | The context of colonial India, its political reality, intellectual movements, and religious culture.

  • BASIC FRAMEWORK OF IQBAL'S THOUGHT | The interlinked concepts of khudi/bekhudi/khilafat, and Iqbal's idea of love, intellect, epistemology, and modernity.

  • READING IQBAL | The poetry of Iqbal, from Asrar-o-Rumuz, Tarana-e-Milli/Hindi, and Zarb-i-Kalim.

Saad Yacoob

M. Saad Yacoob is a student of knowledge, writer and poet. He has a Bachelor's in English from George Mason University and is a PhD Candidate in Arabic and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University.
